THE DAILY WRENCH

Don't Tip The Seat Too Much - While it may seem logical to tip your seat's nose down, it's usually not a good idea. It's best to keep the seat's top level with the ground or minutely tipped up or down no more than three degrees (to your preference) where the seat can properly support your weight. Consider that a seat is designed to offer optimum comfort in its level position. To gauge whether or not the seat is level, rest a long level (make sure the bike is level before measuring) on top. Don't have a level? Put the bike on a surface you know is level and rest a yardstick on top of the seat. Then eyeball the yardstick's edge against a distant building or some other level line on the horizon to gauge seat angle.
